With Sherman's March to the Sea campaign underway through Georgia in late 1864, the Georgia General Assembly was forced to leave Milledgeville in November 1864, and did not reconvene until February 15, 1865, when it met in Macon. Sometime during this tumultuous period, one last issue of Treasury Notes was apparently authorized, perhaps as part of the previous Act of March 17, 1864. Five-dollar and $50 notes dated January 15, 1865, as well as $10 notes (and a single $100) dated March 20, 1865, are known. Approximately 7,000 $10s reached the Treasury on May 8, 1865, but were not issued. Likewise, the $100 was never issued. -- A Guide Book of Southern States Currency (2007), by Hugh Shull
