Lincoln Wheat Cents
1920-1929

United States of America

Lincoln Wheat Ears Reverse cents were designed by Victor D. (David) Brenner (1871-1924) and struck from 1909 through 1958; they were issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Lincoln's birth. Brenner's initials (V.D.B.) appear on the reverse of a limited quantity of 1909 cents. In 1918, the initials were restored to the obverse (on Lincoln's shoulder). This small cent was the first cent to have the motto IN GOD WE TRUST.
