"American Eagle platinum coins are made in four denominations different from the similar gold coins. The $100 coin contains one ounce of pure platinum. Fractional denominations containing 1/2 oz., 1/4 oz., and 1/10 oz. are denominated fifty, twenty-five, and ten dollars, respectively. In 1997, Proof platinum coins had the same reverse as regular strikes. Since then, regular strikes have continued with the 1997 reverse design, while the Proofs have featured a different reverse design each year.
